Okay, so the key to detail is mostly in lines and outlines. Basically imagine that you are above the ground, the lines are the ground, and try to detail the ground. If it's rocks, but in cracks. Maybe on a jump, put in some detail lines to indicate wood that supports the track. Be creative.
